<p> </p>
<p>We found a way to keep the Inauguration fun going with our exclusive <strong>recipe for Obamelets</strong>.  What is an Obamelet, you ask?  Obama + Omelet= Obamelet!  This great <strong>crafty cooking project</strong> is fun to do and will have your kids squealing in delight as the first family joins them for breakfast!  An Obamalet is made up of a regular omelet, filed with your favorite ingredients, and bacon (used as limbs). If you missed our <a title="Obama CHANGE Omelet Recipe" href="http://www.homemakerbarbi.com/inauguration-breakfast-obama-change-omelet/">Obama CHANGE Omelet Recipe</a> for parents from yesterday, be sure to print it out now!</p>
<h1>Recipe: How to Make Obamelets (Obama Family Omelets!)</h1>
<p><strong>Step 1.  Cook omelets and bacon</strong> as you would regularly.</p>
<p><strong>Step 2.  Print out heads for your Obamelets</strong> by clicking the picture below.  The full-size page will open, with the heads the perfect size to fit your Obamelets! Print out the page and cut out faces for Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha Obama.</p>
<p><a title="Printable Obama family heads" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.homemakerbarbi.com/Printables/Heads%20Printable.pdf" target="_blank"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; display: block; border-left-width: 0px; float: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 15px auto; border-right-width: 0px" title="Obama family printable faces" src="http://homemakerbarbi.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/headspreview.jpg" border="0" alt="Obama family printable faces" width="586" height="206" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 3.  Cut each omelet into 4 pieces</strong>, including a rectangle out of the center section and 3 triangles from the rest. See photos below for cutting illustration.</p>
<p> <img style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 10px; border-right-width: 0px" title="Omelet-Cheese" src="http://homemakerbarbi.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/omeletbefore.jpg" border="0" alt="Omelet-Cheese" width="204" height="150" />    <img style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 10px; border-right-width: 0px" title="Omelet-Sliced" src="http://homemakerbarbi.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/omeletsliced.jpg" border="0" alt="Omelet-Sliced" width="224" height="150" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 4.  Take your cooked bacon</strong>, and cut each piece in half (see photo below) using either a knife or kitchen scissors.  After you have all of your bacons cut in half, cut each piece again, this time length-wise.  You will be left with 2 skinny pieces out of each bacon-half that are the perfect size for limbs on your Obamelets!</p>
<p><img style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 10px; border-right-width: 0px" title="Cooked bacon" src="http://homemakerbarbi.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/baconcut.jpg" border="0" alt="Cooked bacon" width="278" height="205" /></p>
<p><strong><img style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 0px 25px 10px 0px; border-right-width: 0px" title="Obamelets-Photo" src="http://homemakerbarbi.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/obameletsphoto1.jpg" border="0" alt="Obamelets-Photo" width="278" height="205" align="left" /></strong><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Step 5.  Assemble your Obamelets!</strong>  Starting with one piece of omelet, place it on the plate.  Add arms by slipping the edge of the bacons underneath the omelet piece.  Do the same for legs.  Then move on to the other omelet pieces, repeating the process.  Lastly, take the printable Obama family heads you cut out earlier and set each one on top of its “body”.</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Step 6.  Eat and enjoy!  Serve Obamelets to your kids</strong> as a great patriotic breakfast in celebration of Inauguration week!</p>

<p>This recipe was invented by one of our talented staff members (who wishes to remain unnamed) by using one ingredient that starts with each letter of the word “change”.  <em><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080;">The only ingredient which was tough to name was the “N” food- there just aren’t many foods that start with that letter!  I turned to </span></em><a title="Twitter" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.twitter.com/homemakerbarbi" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.twitter.com/homemakerbarbi?referer=');"><em><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080;">Twitter</span></em></a><em><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080;"> to help our chef find the last missing ingredient.  Thanks to our great Twitter community for the brainstorming!    </span></em></p>

<p align="justify">Sweetest Day is a holiday in the United States that occurs on the third Saturday of October.  (I remember when I met my husband he thought I was making up Sweetest day, but I assure you it IS a real holiday!)  With its <a title="Sweetest Day" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.sweetestday.com/" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.sweetestday.com/?referer=');">origins circa 1922</a>, there is <a title="Sweetest Day origins" rel="nofollow" href="http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Sweetest_Day" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Sweetest_Day?referer=');">speculation</a> surrounding how it actually began, but it is rumored to have been started by the owner of a candy company who gave candy to cheer people up.  Wikipedia provides more info on <a title="Sweetest Day homemaker" rel="nofollow" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweetest_Day" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweetest_Day?referer=');">Sweetest Day here</a>.</p>
<p align="justify"><span id="more-476"></span></p>
<p align="justify">Sweetest Day is similar to Valentine&#8217;s Day in that you can send a card, give candy or a present, or just give a hug to your &#8220;sweetest&#8221; as a way of celebrating their specialness to you.  Your sweetest doesn&#8217;t have to be your spouse or partner &#8211; it can be anyone, even a child, friend or relative!</p>
